A peaceful 12,000-strong crowd saw in the New Year and a new decade in Dunedin.
A balmy night brought out young and old and the mainly family-oriented crowd caused little trouble for organisers and police as they partied to Dunedin bands Del Girl and Soul Deep on a stage set up in the Octagon before counting in the New Year at midnight.
A five-minute long fireworks display was appreciated by the crowd, before they returned to rocking with band Girl Friday the last act in the New Year's Eve concert in the Octagon.
Organiser Marilyn Anderson, of the Dunedin City Council, said she was pleased with crowd behaviour and estimated the crowd at about 12,000 people.
