‘Valentine’ about to sail

Former Interislander ship Valentine, which has been docked at Port Chalmers since late April, will be leaving Dunedin early tomorrow.

The ship originally came to Dunedin for scheduled maintenance, but remained after owner KiwiRail last month decided to sell it.

Interislander operations general manager Duncan Roy said several parties had expressed interest.

"After three months in Dunedin, Interislander’s freight-only ship Valentine is returning to Wellington to begin the process of decommission."

Once in Wellington, various structures and equipment would be moved off the ship.
