Run by Spokes Dunedin and coinciding with the Aotearoa Bike Challenge, cyclists are invited to a free breakfast outside the Dunedin Railway Station on Wednesday.
Event organiser Ilka Beekhuis said there would be a range of breakfast options available, as well as tea and coffee.
This year’s breakfast will be waste-free, so people are encouraged to take their own bowls and reusable cups.
Any food waste will be composted, and extra food given to Food Harvest.
While having their breakfast, people were welcome to submit suggestions for any minor road improvements they wanted to see.
‘‘We collect and collate those and give them to the Dunedin City Council and the NZ Transport Agency,’’ Ms Beekhuis said.
‘‘It’s a good place for people to mull over those ideas.’’
It will be the seventh annual event, and the third held at the railway station.
The breakfast was initially held in the Octagon, but given the traffic flow and pedestrianisation of the railway station it was a better fit.
The breakfast will be held rain, hail or shine, although Beekhuis was hoping for good weather.
‘‘It’s a really great friendly environment for cyclists.
‘‘Someone told me last year that it’s turning out to be one of Dunedin’s iconic cycling events.’’
• The breakfast will be held on Wednesday, February 17, from 6.30am-9am.
