Fiona Clements is a Zero waste practitioner.

WHAT'S YOUR SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS AT THE MOMENT?

Zero waste and waste minimisation are a key focus for me. Product stewardship creates responsibility for products that are designed and distributed.

We currently do not have the infrastructure to sustain the consumption rates or types of products that are created. We need to incorporate cradle to cradle solutions.

Dunedin's landfill is set to close in five years' time and I want to help Dunedin businesses move towards zero waste while creating an industry around resource recovery.

WHAT'S ONE GOOD INITIATIVE YOU'VE NOTICED RECENTLY?

The Kiwi Bottle Drive is trying to make incentivised bottle deposits and product stewardship happen.

WHAT IS THE KEY TO RESILIENT COMMUNITIES?

Connection and collaboration are key to creating a resilient community, when we know our neighbours and are involved in activities we have a better quality of life, which then spills over into our work and learning spaces.

WHAT'S YOUR MESSAGE?

Use what you have, start where you are, do what you can, never give up! Ask questions, do your own research. Don't take anybody else's word for truth until you have. Love is the answer!
