Amy Parsons-King is a convert to the world of mesh and lycra.
I have never considered myself an "active'' person.
Occasionally I have felt my clothes clinging a little more than I would like and vowed to get fit and lose weight. This would usually entail me going for a novelty jog, eating a salad for dinner and downloading the fatsecret app before swiftly reverting to being in denial about the state of my physical health the next day.
I was one of those people who resented health-conscious people, including my friends who would enrage me when, even when on holiday, they would insist on going for their daily run before we could head out and do fun activities such as sitting in cafes eating and drinking.
Those same friends also like to dress in active-wear, even when they aren't actually being active, which would perturb me even more: give me a pair of grey fat-pants over expensive skin-hugging lycra any day!
That was pre-India. I visited a few months ago and on my return became extremely ill. I will spare you the details, but let's just say it was not pretty.
Once I regained my health several weeks later, I was delighted to find myself 7kg lighter and no longer a smoker.
Determined not to go back to my old lifestyle, I joined a gym, bought a blender, slipped into some Spandex and can now happily say I'm a fairly active, reasonably healthy person who even enjoys active-wear (even when it's not appropriate, i.e. any time you're not actually exercising).
As I'm new to the world of mesh and lycra, I'm not really familiar with what's "in'' when it comes to active-wear, but these look pretty good to me.
