The world’s largest flexible workspace provider
In mid-February, Regus, the world’s largest flexible workspace provider, opened its new contemporary business centre in Dunedin.
With capacity for 42 private offices and the ability to accommodate another 25-30 people, the newly renovated workspace is on the first floor of the Harvest Court Mall at 218 George St.
It offers businesses the opportunity to rent various-sized workspaces for anywhere from one hour to years, depending on their needs.
The newly openedRegus centres in Dunedin and Christchurch are the latest additions tothe company’s 18 locations in New Zealand, and a huge international network.
‘‘(This is) one of the largest-growing service industries in the world,’’ Regus area manager for Otago and Southland Aaron Kemp says. ‘‘It offers huge flexibility — many growing businesses can get stuck in a lease, but here you can just move into a bigger space.’’
Options include private window offices, lower-cost interior offices, office suites that include meeting rooms, and co-working desk space in ashared-office environment.
Dunedin is notoriously short ofquality office space, with the lowest vacancy rate in New Zealand, so the emergence of Regus in the city is timely.
Their 1100sq m George St space was previously leased by Silver Fern Farms. Building owner Carl Angus has spent the past decade redeveloping Harvest Court, and in partnership with Regus has created a stunning $2-million workspace.
Encompassing Regus’ global specifications, modern fixtures and fittings, exposed timber ceilings and raw brick walls, the space includes a green wall and a bridge across the first-floor void.
Some clients have already moved in, and there has been a lot of inquiries.
‘‘As well as start-ups, Regus can also act as the local branch for multinationals, to let them test the waters,’’ Aaron says. ‘‘And small-to medium-size businesses can share costs.’’
The Regus concept was launched in Belgium in 1989, and now operates over 3000 workspaces in 120 countries. The 2.5-million members of Regus Businessworld can access those spaces all around the world.
Regus has certain criteria for opening in a city, and Dunedin’s population, amenities, high-speed internet, and the scarcity of quality office space, all led to the company’s launch here.
