Three experienced Southern DHB clinicians – Urologists Mr Michael Stotzer and Mr Michael Vincent, and Dunedin-based Radiation Oncologist Dr Shaun Costello – will present and discuss the latest prostate cancer findings, including diagnoses, screening and modern treatment options.
“Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in New Zealand men aged over 50 years and around 3,000 men are diagnosed each year,” says Southern DHB Colorectal Surgeon, Associate Dean Southland and Associate Professor, Konrad Richter. “Early detection can lead to very high survival rates. Though screening has been controversial, it has been shown to improve survival.”
