For 16 to 19 years, there areYouth Guarantee places if you want to explore what the hairdressing industry is all about and require support for travel. There is full-time level 3 and 4 training for those who know this is their true calling.
Harrington\Vaughan Academy is the only private provider of hairdressing training in the South Island.
All programmes on offer are approved by NZQA and the TEC. Student loans and allowances are available to assist with equipment purchases and fees. The “Fees Free” opportunity may apply to you as a firstyear learner or as a “2019 Starter”.
The New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing Skills Level 2 (Introductory) is a 20-week full-time programme: It covers 60 credits at level 2 and prepares you for work opportunities in a commercial salon. Fully funded by the TEC, there are strict entry criteria.
The New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing Level 3 (Salon Support) is a 40-week full-time programme: It covers 128 credits at levels 2 and 3 and equals the first year of a hairdressing apprenticeship. Fees free and student loan and allowance compliant.
