The team at Dunedin ITM have tailored the locally owned and operated business to serve the building community.
Dunedin ITM owner Jon Conley understands better than most that business is all about people.
“I’ve spent over 20 years attending sales and management courses, and that’s the crux of every single one,” he reflects.
With that principle in mind, the business has become an integral part of the city’s building supplies trade since it opened in 2021. As a 100% locally owned and operated business, they’re deeply involved in the Dunedin community.
The vastly experienced team at Dunedin ITM love to find solutions for their many customers, Conley notes.
“We’ve got some very well-respected staff in the industry,” he says. “Our customers are dealing with the guy who can make the decision on the spot, and we rarely would walk away from a meeting without a solution. That’s something our competitors can’t offer.”
ITM has a long history in the New Zealand building industry. The company was founded in 1991 by a group of timber companies in Northland and has since grown to over 90 locally owned and operated stores nationwide.

With Conley having 20 years in the building supplies industry, and account manager Mark Stewart well over 30, Dunedin ITM has invaluable experience on tap.
A lot of their business is supplying local trades, but the DIY home market is served by their retail arm.
Another aspect of the business is farm sheds, and an exciting frame and truss manufacturing plant will be opening later in the year.
“We’re not cookie-cutter; we can cut our cloth to suit what our market is after,” Conley says.
That ability is evident in the projects they’ve been involved in, ranging from large commercial buildings, multi-million-dollar homes, to apartments and beyond.
Alongside all the key building material suppliers they work with, Dunedin ITM supports some local timber mills.
The community also benefits from their involvement, with the business sponsoring various organisations from sporting through to charitable.
“Being able to give back to the Dunedin community is massive,” Conley says. “Because all of those groups are pretty much reliant on charitable money.”
Over the last four years, the Dunedin ITM team have worked hard to build the brand in the city. They’re deeply invested in serving their many customers.
“It’s all people,” Conley concludes. “People buy from people they like and trust.”
