Lauren Mackenzie reviews Vodafone's new HTC Magic.
The HTC Magic has been recently released and fitted with Google's Android operating system.
It is the second handset to be released with this operating system and it is significantly improved.
The HTC Magic has a sleek all white cover, it is light, thin and weighs a mere 119g.
It has a 3.2-inch display, curved edges and is pocket friendly.
The size, or lack of it, is due to the phone having no physical keyboard as this has been replaced by an on-screen touch version.
The touch screen is very responsive and reacts to light brushes across the surface.
Like most touch screens on the market, it is more suited to text messages and short emails.
There are few physical buttons situated at the bottom of the phone which include a call button, menu button and a search button for the web or your emails.
There is also a really neat trackball which moves very fast and I found very effective for navigating around the menu items, emails and web pages.
Internet browsing is excellent, with fast speeds and the ability to easily slide around the page with your finger or using the trackball.
You can view the full page or use the little zoom in and out buttons.
You also have no limit to the number of pages you can have open at one time and easily switch from page to page.
A notable feature of the HTC magic is the Android Market application store, which offers a range of free applications to download and some amazing applications you can purchase.
Twitter junkies can download the Twidroid, which is the first twitter application on the android platform.
It has the latest news from twitter buzz and a notification system.
The phone is also fitted with GPS, supported by Google Maps with StreetView, which is really cool to use.
There is a decent music player, camera and it has the ability to store up to 8GB upon inserting a microSD card.
If you love the internet at your fingertips, are addicted to email and want access to super cool applications, then this is the phone for you.
