The off-screen romance between Michael C. Hall and his wife and acting co-star Jennifer Carpenter is over.

Court records in Los Angeles show Carpenter filed for divorce today after less than two years of marriage.

Both star in Showtime's hit show Dexter, playing brother and sister.

She cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking spousal support from Hall. They were married on Dec. 31, 2008, and have no children together.

Hall plays a serial killer who targets other murderers on Dexter, which recently concluded its fifth season and earned the actor a Screen Actor's Guild nomination Thursday.

The 39-year-old won a SAG trophy earlier this year while successfully battling Hodgkin's lymphoma, a cancer that attacks the lymph nodes.
