Blanchett up for People's Choice Award in US

Oscar winner Cate Blanchett has been nominated for another award, this time for playing the villain in the latest Indiana Jones movie.

The Australian actress will go against Anne Hathaway and Angelina Jolie for the People's Choice award for favourite female action star.

Blanchett donned a dark bobbed wig and Russian accent to play Agent Spalk in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the late Heath Ledger has also been nominated alongside Christian Bale in the favourite on-screen match up category.

The pair played The Joker and Batman in The Dark Knight. It was Ledger's last completed movie.

The Perth-born actor died in January this year from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs.

The People's Choice awards honour fan favourites in television, movies and music and are voted for by the public.

Winners of the 35th Annual People's Choice Awards will be announced during a ceremony in Los Angles on January 7 next year. - AAP.
