Magicians from around the globe are preparing to blow Dunedinites’ socks clean off their feet with a show that promises to leave attendees mystified.

Producer and artistic director Reggie Gavel said audiences could expect illusions, comedy, mentalism, fireworks and motorbikes to grace the stage of the Regent Theatre this afternoon.

"This is the largest magic and illusion show in the southern hemisphere — our biggest passion is to take what we can have and give it to smaller centres, everywhere we go we want the little places to be able to join in."

The show has completed their first North Island stint, and began the South Island leg in Invercargill on June 22.

After today’s performance, their next show would be in Oamaru on July 10.

The show will feature grand illusionist Andre Vegas, French comedy magician and circus entertainer, JP, New Zealand magician Felicity Rogers and Dunedin magician, Chinese mastermind of the Oriental wonders, and the show’s executive director, Mr How.

Mr How said magic was not just for children.

"I once went up to a man who was eating alone in my restaurant and asked him if he wanted to see some magic, he said ‘No, no, I don’t have kids’.

"I told him it wasn’t just for kids, and I started doing it, and he started to really enjoy it. I was there at that table for 20 minutes."

Mr How said watching a magician in person versus over the internet or on television was a "totally different experience".

"A live show is totally different. You can see, feel, and touch the magic — there is no hiding behind video editing in real life."
