After months of debate and consultation the Dunedin City Council will finally vote to adopt the city’s budget for the next 10 years. Councillors will vote to adopt the 10-year plan at a full meeting of the Dunedin City Council tomorrow.
Included in the plan is $60 million for an upgrade of the central city, $10.8million towards a new aquatic facility in Mosgiel and a $20 million architecturally designed walking and cycling bridge.
It also includes much-needed upgrades of wastewater infrastructure to improve many of the city’s ageing pipes, sewers and water mains.
Councillors will also set the rating levels for the next financial year, a 7.84% increase expected in the first year of the plan.
Once the plan is adopted, it will be available on the council’s website from July 1. A print
copy will be available from the middle of July.

Sure we often don't like what our bosses, managers have to do at work, but at teh end of the day thats why they are in that position and get paid the big wages and wear the big boy pants. similar the council does have a hard job and and can't please everybody. with that said and acknowledged the majority of them should be sacked and this plan revoked at in detail by rate payers, they are rushing things through to get approved. It would be awesome to see where they are now with the previous 10 year plan, i.e. what stage are they at right now and see a time line of it so that is 2008-2018 ten year plan, I bet they could not tell you or provide a time line of its progress, and guess what Cull has been there all that time-
