A Copworth flock from Gisborne farmers Kerry and Charlie Seymour has been named the country's top ewe hogget flock.
A composite-breed flock from Steve Harrison and Judi Weedon, from Otekura in South Otago, was placed second, with five of the six national breed winners in the 2008 Rabobank-sponsored New Zealand ewe hogget competition coming from south of the Waitaki River.
Other national breed winners were: Merino, David and Lisa Anderson, North Otago; crossbred, Martin Miller, Owaka; Perendale, Alan and Leeann Woodrow, Gore; Romney, Hamish and Sarah Ottrey, Tapanui.
