Long-established Dunedin-based Beeby Construction was placed in liquidation yesterday.
Beeby was placed in the hands of Insolvency Management Ltd yesterday, but no details will be available until the receiver's first report is filed in about six weeks, a spokesman said.
Beeby was incorporated in March 1965 and its sole director and shareholder was listed in Companies Office records as Stephen Beeby, of Fairfield.
Beeby was placed in liquidation after an application to the High Court of Dunedin by Dunedin-registered company P. L. Clarke Ltd, whose majority shareholder is Paul Clarke, of Mosgiel.
The Green Island-based construction and contracting company advertised services including earthworks, retaining walls, safety guardrails, bridge construction, truck and excavator hire, pile-driving, site work and roading.
Late last year, Mr Beeby held numerous large auctions of a wide range of construction plant and equipment, advertising at the time that after 35 years' contracting he had "decided on a change of direction".
