Cassie nee Prescott (23) travel agent and Quinton Gibbons (27) miner - Dunedin
When and where did you meet?
August 2009 at Shell Petrol Station in Waikouaiti. I was working part time (still in High School) and he moved from town to work full time at the petrol station.
The proposal
It was 25th December 2013. He had wrapped up a box and inside was a bunch of tinsel, then hidden in that was a rose which opened up and held the ring inside. I actually opened it up the wrong way round so instead of searching through the tinsel to find the rose it was sitting right on top. He videoed the whole thing, but made sure I had to have a shower first and get out of my pjs before I was allowed to open it :) and yes... I cried!
When and where was the wedding?
16th January 2016. Our ceremony was held at the Waikouaiti Events Centre and the reception was at the Glenroy Auditorium in the Town Hall
Why did you choose the venue?
The Events Centre in Waikouaiti was our backup plan. We had originally planned on having the ceremony up at the Matanaka Buildings but the weather was terrible on the Friday so we changed at the last minute to the Town Hall. The Glenroy I fell in love with straight away. It was a larger venue and fit all of our guests. When accessorised to our Rainbow theme it looked incredible!!
The dresses and suits
We brought the bridesmaid dresses online at Aliexpress and were extremely happy with them, they suited each girl perfectly. My wedding dress was brought online as well from Vbridal.com and was excellent quality! Fit me perfectly, no alterations and I loved it!! The boys suits we hired from Ace Alterations & Suit Hire. They were extremely helpful and all the boys looked excellent. We also got the bridesmaid dresses altered there as well, they did a great job.
The caterers
For the catering at our ceremony we used Beano's Bakery which was really yummy. Our reception was catered by the Town Hall caterers. We had so many good compliments about the meals, everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing! I was so guttered that I couldn't eat more as I had tonsillitis on the day :(
Highlight of the day
Getting to marry my best friend!
Our photographer
Our photographer was Lisa Reid. She was AMAZING!! Made us feel so comfortable and relaxed about it all. I love all our wedding photos and am so pleased we asked her to be our photographer as we have so many beautiful memories of our day left to cherish
