NZ Trio are celebrating their 21st birthday with a nationwide tour for Chamber Music New Zealand, and are set to reach Dunedin next week.

The piano trio, comprising Amalia Hall (violin), Ashley Brown (cello), and Somi Kim (piano), will present a colourful programme in concert on Wednesday, May 24, from 7.30pm at the Glenroy Auditorium.

At the heart of the programme are Brahms’ remarkable piano trios, with the Dunedin audience to hear the Piano Trio No. 3 in C minor.

"[Brahms] really understands the interactions between different instruments, and his music feels very intimate.

"These trios are powerful, uplifting, beautiful and human with a deep sense of honesty and integrity," NZTrio said.

The programme will also feature Mozart’s Piano Trio in B flat major, Arvo Part’s Mozart-Adagio, Gareth Farr’s Forbidden Colours, and Claire Cowan’s Ultra Violet.

NZTrio were thrilled to share this colourful repertoire with audiences across the country.
