Traffic light system gone

A major milestone in the long fight to keep the worst of the pandemic at bay has been achieved as the Government switched off the Covid-19 protection framework traffic light system at midnight on Monday.

Mask wearing is now no longer required in the majority of situations — the only exception being healthcare facilities including hospitals, general practitioners, pharmacies and aged care homes.

The Government announced on Monday Pharmac was more than doubling the eligible population for Covid-19 anti-viral medication, opening it up to all New Zealanders aged 65+, Maori aged 50+ and those who meet other Pharmac requirements.
