All concert performances will be led by celebrated English conductor Alexander Shelley.
The "Legacy concert" will be staged at Dunedin Town Hall on Friday, October 14, at 7.30pm, and will feature Montero as soloist in Mozart’s striking Piano Concerto No.20.
Legacy also features Brahms’ triumphant First Symphony and the world premiere of Dunedin composer Dame Gillian Whitehead’s retrieving the fragility of peace.
The "Bright Sparks" concert, featuring Carter (vocals/curator) and Nolan (organ) with the NZSO, will be held on Saturday, October 15, from 7.30pm at Dunedin Town Hall.
The performance will weave Carter’s favourite moments from the classical music canon with reimagined orchestral versions of his songs from composer Tane Upjohn-Beatson.
The "Fantastic Voyage" concert, to be held at Dunedin Town Hall on Sunday, October 16, at 2pm, features New Zealand singer Whirimako Black and organist Nolan.
Nolan will perform Bach’s instantly recognisable Toccata and Fugue before joining with Black and the orchestra for Philip Glass’ Symphony No. 12 Lodger, inspired by the David Bowie album of the same name.
On Sunday, October 15, the NZSO will throw open the doors of the Glenroy Auditorium for a variety of free events for all ages, from 10am to 5pm.
The "Open Doors" event will include Orchestra Jam, masterclasses, and a special free recital of favourite works and improvisations by Montero at 4pm.
