Classic cruisers, custom choppers and more will gather this weekend to raise funds for charity.

After a break of seven years, the Rev ’n’ Ride Dunedin car cruise will take place on Sunday at the Otago Taieri A& P Showgrounds.

Organisers Janine Bolton and Tracy Chambers said they were delighted to bring back the fundraising event for the first time since 2016.

"The response has already been huge, but we would love it to be bigger," Ms Bolton said.

Anything with wheels is welcome to enter the event, from cars to trucks, bikes to trikes, so long as it is road-legal.

The event would raise funds for K9 Medical Detection New Zealand, with both organisers having close ties to the organisation.

Ms Bolton lost her mother to bowel cancer only three months after diagnosis. She carries the same gene, and her children could also carry the gene. She also lost her father to lymphoma in 2012, again only three months after diagnosis.

The work K9MD was doing gave her hope that she could keep herself and her children safe, Ms Bolton said.

Ms Chambers and her family foster K9 Medical Detection dog Freida.

A show and shine for the public will take place from 11am, then entrants will leave on a cruise, finishing up at a secret location for prize giving.

Early bird entries finish tomorrow and vehicles can be entered on the day, from 9.30am-10.50am.
