Auckland-based comedian Paul Ego is stoked to be on the road again with his colleagues from the popular 7 Days TV show, bringing the 7 Days Live tour to audiences.

The show is back on the road after Covid-19 forced the postponement of a planned 7 Days Live tour in November.

Regular host Jeremy Corbett leads the show’s line-up of popular comedians, including team "leaders" Paul Ego and Dai Henwood, Justine Smith, Ben Hurley, Laura Daniel and Josh Thomson, who will bring the show to Dunedin’s Regent Theatre this Saturday night, June 11, at 7.30pm.

Part quick-fire stand-up and part a completely uncensored 7 Days show, the live version is in-your-face comedy.

"I absolutely love it — it’s so good to be getting out there again doing some stand-up as well as the 7 Days show," Ego told The Star.

In the live show, each comedian does a seven-minute stand-up segment before joining together for the signature 7 Days games and quick-fire banter.

"With only seven minutes to do stand-up, each person’s set will be a bit of a greatest hits — it will be a nice little taster for audiences.

"Everyone on the tour has very different stand-up from each other, so it will be a mini comedy gala."

Ego said presenting stand-up as a group was valuable as comedians honed their sets.

"I tend to talk about my sons quite a lot, although I may have to change a few things now that my 16-year-old can be part of the audience ... or make up a false name."

In keeping with the immediacy of the 7 Days TV show, the live version will poke fun at current affairs — from politics to internet antics — in a series of games.
