Dunedin audiences will enjoy the music of international musical phenomenon Jersey Boys when Musical Theatre Dunedin’s production of the award-winning show opens tonight at the Regent Theatre.

The musical, which takes audiences behind the scenes and the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, tells the story of how four blue collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks became a huge pop sensation.

Featuring hit songs, including Beggin’, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, Oh What A Night, Sherry, Walk Like A Man, Bye Bye Baby, Big Girls Don’t Cry and many more, Jersey Boys is a story full of heart, humour and loyalty.

Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi joined forces to become The Four Seasons, writing their own hits and developing their unique sound to sell more than 175 million records before they were 30 years old.

The Musical Theatre Dunedin production of Jersey Boys is directed by Steven Robertson, with musical director Stuart Walker and vocal coach Arlie McCormack, with the performers accompanied by a live band.

The cast features Max Beal as Frankie Valli, Greg MacLeod as Tommy DeVito, Ben Thomas as Bob Gaudio and Justin Wilson as Nick Massi, with a supporting cast including Charlotte McKay, Hayley Lyndom, Sophie Whibley, Ben Hayward, Ben Johnson, Peter Hocking, Jack Archibald, Steve Jones, Domonic Edmond, Zara Anthony-Whigham, Lexie Tomlinson, Makensie Waddell and George Keen.

Jersey Boys will be staged at the Regent Theatre from tonight until Saturday, May 6, at 7.30pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2pm, then continues from Tuesday to Saturday, May 9-13, at 7.30pm.
