Good weather and good vibes helped ensure the Green Island Market Day was a fantastic event, organisers say.

People from across the city visited the suburb on Saturday to enjoy a casual stroll along Main South Rd and pick up some Christmas bargains from stalls and local businesses.

Greater Green Island community worker Ben McKenzie said there was an amazing positive community vibe on the day.

Some stall holders were calling this market one of the best markets of the market calendar, he said.

Local school performances were "fantastic", including lively performances from the Fairfield School Rock Band and high school rock band The Shenatics.

The quality of the stalls and wares on sale were at a generally high standard and he estimated more than a thousand people visited during the market day.

Mr McKenzie thanked the team of volunteers, and all the local Green Island businesses who support the event, including EnviroWaste who provided bins and Moyles Fresh Choice who helped provide the stage.

He also thanked staff members from Harcourts who helped run a children’s area "which was incredibly popular".

"It was a fantastic event, with the weather helping the good vibes."
