This group has participants spanning a variety of ages and its success is a testament to its co-ordinator Lorraine Macmillan, who with graceful ease, demonstrates the variety of moves to steps, made to mirror the beat, encouraging the group to follow.
Learning is a big part of the group’s aim.
Line dancing is a way of keeping your mind active and your body fit, which adds to the attraction of this great group.
A bonus is the friendliness of the members and the long-time associations formed.
But, be aware, there can be a waiting list to join the line dancers, so it’s best to make an inquiry before coming along.
At last month’s Christmas function the line dancers made an appearance to "strut their stuff" and, during their contribution to the programme, a large number of club members joined in the fun.
The line dancers group will recommence on Monday, February 20.
Lorraine requests that anyone interested call her beforehand on 021409-958.
The line dancers and many other groups are available for members of Dunedin 60+ Club to be a part of and enjoy.
See our website www.dunedin60plus.co.nz for details, along with regular meeting dates and the trial of social wednesdays, which started last week and will be held on the third Wednesday afternoon of each month.
The next monthly general meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 1 — doors open at 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
Our guest speaker from Orokonui Ecosanctuary will give an overview of what the ecosanctuary does, some of the threatened species they work with, and information as to how the public can help in their own backyards to promote wildlife.
This will be the start of another great year for the growing Dunedin 60+ Club.
The entry koha for the monthly general meeting is $2.
Notice boards, plus a great selection of books and puzzles (free for members to borrow) are available for members as they arrive.
The annual subscription of $10 can be paid to the club treasurer if not already paid.
The club meets in the Blind Low Vision NZ social hall, 458 Hillside Rd — enter through the Law St entrance then turn left to the social hall.
Parking is available on nearby streets. Bus stops are handy.
