Dunedin Korean Society president Euija Kim said Chuseok was a national holiday in Korea when families get together and enjoy the day.
Children were shown how to make songpyeon, a half-moon shaped rice cake stuffed with black bean and sesame.
They also played a traditional Korean game called Tuho or "pitch-pot" which involved throwing rubber-tipped arrows into a special pot.
The day was a chance for Koreans living in New Zealand to make connections together when they could sometimes feel isolated from families abroad, she said.
