People dropped off furniture, clothes, cans of old paint, wood and electronics, often seeming to take away more than they brought.
The well-organised event was supported by music from The Flukes trio, with face-painting and bubble-blowing to entertain children, and cakes on sale in the school hall, the latter supported by Gardens New World supermarket.
At the end of the day, recycling bins and a skip were all that remained, with organisers saying they planned to hold the event annually in future.
