Libby Scott, of Dunedin, partnered Heidi Stewart, of Waikato, to win the national 18 and under tennis doubles title at Albany yesterday.
Scott and Stewart were seeded second but overcame Louise Oxnevad, from Queenstown, and Paige Hourigan (Wanganui) 6-3, 6-1, in a one-sided final.
Earlier Hourigan, seeded fifth, faced six match points, before fighting back to beat Stewart, the third seed, 11-9 in the final set tiebreak.
Scott, who was seeded fourth, had a disappointing singles loss in the third round, to 15th seed Beth Williamson, of Canterbury, 6-4, 7-6.
Oxnevad was eliminated by Stewart at the semifinal stage.
In other Otago results, Sian English, the 14th seed made it through to the last eight and Georgia Hume reached the semifinal of the consolation event, after losing in the second round of the main draw.
Both girls have two more years in the grade.
The boy's title was won by top seed Jaden Grinter (Waikato), who beat second seed Cameron Norrie (Auckland) 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.
They paired up to win the doubles title.
