Her form in the singles may have deserted her but Kiwi No 1 Marina Erakovic has progressed to the doubles semifinals at the Madrid Open tennis tournament in Spain.
Erakovic and experienced Zimbabwean partner Cara Black beat Flavia Pennetta (Italy) and Svetlana Kuznetsova (Russia) in the quarter-finals 4-6 6-1 10-5 to move within one victory of the final.
Erakovic and Black will play the Spanish wildcard pairing of Silvia Soler-Espinosa and Carla Suarez Navarro in the semifinals.
The winners' cheque for the women's doubles champions is 203,000 Euros.
Meanwhile, Rubin Statham is through to the doubles semifinals at the US$125,000 Challenger event in Kunming, China.
