United States-based New Zealand tennis player Austen Childs was beaten in the final of the 64-player NCAA singles championship in Georgia today (NZT).
Representing the University of Louisville, Childs beat seeded player Tim Puetz from the University of Auburn 7-6 6-0 in the semifinal before succumbing 6-1 6-2 in the final against Bradley Klahn of Stanford University.
Childs was a beaten singles finalist in last year's New Zealand residential championships.
