Queenstown's Ben McLachlan has advanced to today's semifinals at the ASB Classic.

Alongside German doubles partner Jan-Lennard Struff, he beat Wesley Koolhof and Kiwi Marcus Daniell 7-6 7-6 in yesterday's quarterfinal.

It was a tight game, both sets going to a tiebreaker.

Indeed only five points - which could be accounted for in the two tiebreakers - separated the pairings over the entire match.

The duo will now play Mate Pavic and Oliver Marach - ranked third and fourth in the world respectively - in tonight's late game.

In the other semifinal Kiwi Michael Venus and partner Raven Klaasen face Bob and Mike Bryan.
