The Dunedin Triathlon Club had its first race in the summer series around the Dunedin Harbour basin last night.

The sprint series race consisted of a 350m swim in the harbour, followed by a 9km bike and a 2.5km run. A duathlon was also offered which included a 1km run to start instead of the swim.

The first man home in the triathlon was Ant Jackson with a time of 29min 44 sec. The first woman home was Rosie Haddock in 32min 26sec.

The duathlon was won by Grayson Westgate in 28min 9sec with Sarah Sanderson-Warner the first woman home in 30min 56sec. A good field of 51 competitors lined up.

The next race in the series will be held next month at Aramoana.
