The team are set to take on Wales later this week as part of the inaugural top-tier series WXV 1.
Among those ready with a rugby ball and a sharpie was Brooke Ratten-Johnson, 12, a member of Zingari Richmond Rugby Football Club.
She had been playing rugby for eight years, and hoped one day she might play for the Black Ferns herself, she said.
She was excited to have the chance to meet the team and collect some signatures.
Black Fern Rosie Kelly said it was exciting to see some friendly faces upon arrival.
She had played for Dunedin for three years as a university student, but had not been back for a while, she said.
She was keen to show her team-mates around, and "put on some unreal footy" for their supporters.
WXV 1 brings together the top three teams from the Six Nations — England, France and Wales — and the top three from Pacific Four, New Zealand, Canada and Australia.
WXV 1 is a round-robin series with nine games across three weekends in three different locations — Wellington, Dunedin and Auckland.
It features standalone games on Friday nights, followed by double-headers on the Saturday.
The competition kicked off in Wellington on Friday.
There will be three games at Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium.
England will take on Canada for the first match this Friday.
The following day New Zealand will tackle Wales, and later in the evening France will face off against Australia.
