The fullback was named captain of the side to play the Highlanders in the Farmlands Cup, their final pre-season match before the Super Rugby season.
Havili, playing his first match of the year, is part of a handy backline which includes All Blacks Braydon Ennor and Brett Cameron, as well as Will Jordan and Mitchell Drummond.
Drummond was named a vice-captain, alongside dynamic No8 Whetu Douglas.
Otago prop George Bower has been included in the reserves.
The side is coming off a 40-19 win over the Hurricanes in Ashburton last week.
Crusaders head coach Scott Robertson said testing things was key in the pre-season hit outs.
‘‘As coaches, we were really pleased with what we saw in Ashburton, particularly from some of our young players who certainly put their hand up,’’ Robertson said.
‘‘We're proud of them for taking their opportunity and it's given us something to think about ahead of round one next week.
‘‘The pre-season is a chance to test some of our combinations and structures, and we'll do more of the same this Friday night.
‘‘We're looking forward to heading to Wanaka for another tough Farmlands Cup encounter.’’
The Highlanders, beaten 40-21 by the Waratahs in Sydney last week, are expected to name their team today. The match kicks off at 6pm tomorrow.
