Sellout tipped for Bledisloe Cup test

It is all eyes on the deciding test in Auckland this weekend but tickets are being snapped up for next month's Bledisloe Cup match in Dunedin.

The game at Forsyth Barr Stadium on August 26 is the only Bledisloe Cup match to be played in New Zealand this year. It is also the only test to be played in the South Island this year.

New Zealand Rugby does not give out actual numbers of tickets sold but as of yesterday it appears most of the tickets in the two main stands have been sold.

``There has been very strong initial interest in the Bledisloe Cup test in Dunedin on August 26, which has seen the majority of tickets snapped up already. Our message to fans is to get in quick or risk missing out,'' NZR head of marketing Todd Barberel said.

``Dunedin has experienced world-class international rugby this year with the Highlanders' historic victory over the Lions, so it's no surprise locals are jumping at the chance to be at the next offering.''

An attempt to get tickets in the different categories of the two main stands yesterday showed only single seats were available.

Tickets were more readily available from the two stands at the ends.

The Highlanders game against the Lions was not quite a sell-out but New Zealand Rugby was banking on a full house next month.

``This is the only Bledisloe Cup game being played in New Zealand this year, and we are expecting a sell-out,'' Barberel said.

The first Bledisloe Cup test will be played in Sydney on August 19. The third Bledisloe match will be played in Brisbane on October 21.
