Otago has left some of its heavy artillery on the sideline for its warm-up game against Tasman at Carisbrook tomorrow.
The match is the final warm-up for Otago for its ITM Cup campaign and coach Phil Mooney has given most of those who did not play in the 59-7 romp over the Southland Spartans last week a first hit-out.
He said all of the 25 players listed would get a run but the XV which ran on to the field would get the first 40 minutes before changes were made at halftime.
The match is not a first-class fixture.
Chris Small, who looked sharp at fullback last week, will get another run at the back, while winger Fetu'u Vainikolo gets a start on the unfamiliar right wing after not being picked for the match in Balclutha last week.
Alhambra-Union centre Paula Kinikinilau gets a crack in the midfield with Andrew Parata inside him.
Charlie O'Connell is on the blindside flank with University A pair Josh Townsend and Hoani Matenga locking the scrum.
Kees Meeuws will start on the loosehead side of the scrum with University A prop Sam Hibbard on the tighthead.
Prop Ben Nolan had recovered from a broken wrist and was cleared to play last Saturday for his Harbour club side, but he injured his knee in that club game and is doubtful for the first game of the ITM Cup against Counties-Manukau on August 31.
Fellow prop Keith Cameron is out for the season with an injured shoulder.
New Zealand Colts hooker Liam Coltman injured his ankle in the club final last Saturday but should be right for next week while first five-eighth Chris Noakes is still carrying a quadricep injury which forced him out of the club final last week.
He will not play tomorrow.
Halfback Sean Romans will captain the side.
The Tasman side, which lost to Canterbury 21-10 in Blenheim last Friday night, has a sprinkling of experience.
Former All Black Chris Jack captains the team from lock, with former Southland prop Fai Mika getting a start for his new province.
Former Otago B player Andrew Goodman, who had impressed for Tasman in the past few seasons, has moved to Japan, but his departure has been offset by the emergence of youngster James Marshall, who will direct proceedings from first five-eighth.
The match starts at the earlier time of 12.30pm to allow Tasman to get back to Nelson later tomorrow afternoon.
