Rugby: Varsity A leads after narrow win

University A leads Dunedin premier rugby competition by 11 points after narrowly beating Kaikorai 21-18 at Bishopscourt today.

It leads the competition with 50 points and is followed by Alhambra-Union 39, Pirates 37 and Kaikorai 33. Only 11 points separate second placed Alhambra-Union and eighth placed Dunedin.

It will be difficult, but not impossible, for Southern and Dunedin to make the semi-finals.

There are just two rounds left before the play-offs.

The Gallaway Trophy points after 11 rounds are: University A 50, Alhambra-Union 39, Pirates 37, Kaikorai 33, Taieri 32, Harbour 30, Southern 29, Dunedin 28, Green Island 14, Zingari-Richmond 0.
