Rugby: Some changes to forwards for North Harbour game

Otago has kept faith in most of the side that dismantled Southland for its crunch game against North Harbour tomorrow.

The backline remains the same as the one that started against Southland.

Sio Tomkinson has recovered from the knock to the head and bleeding nose that forced him off at halftime against Southland.

He impressed in his 40 minutes on the field on the right wing, and his strong defence is an asset to the side.

In the forwards, after a busy couple of weeks, loose forward Naulia Dawai goes to the bench and Mike Mafi comes into the side at No8.

Adam Knight gets a rest after a good spell on the flank and Jackson Hemopo comes into the side on the blindside flank.

Hemopo has had a disrupted season thanks to a knee injury picked up in the opening game but he has come right and made a fleeting appearance off the bench in the match against Southland.

It will be his 15th and blazer game for the province.

Lock Blair Tweed, who has become something of an unsung hero for Otago this season, having originally not been named in the squad, has the game off.

Promising lock Josh Dickson comes into the team to partner Tom Franklin in the second row.

The same front row will line up, with Hisa Sasagi also bringing up his blazer game.

Charlie O'Connell is over a calf injury and is on the bench.

Otago will be looking for a win which will go a long way to getting it into the semifinals of the championship.

It sits in fourth position, two points behind Bay of Plenty, which has played a game more.

The blue and golds have three games left and are still with a sniff of getting a home semifinal, though other results will have to go their way.

After tomorrow's match, Otago will take on winless Northland next Wednesday before taking on Bay of Plenty at Forsyth Barr Stadium on October 11.

North Harbour lost to Manawatu in Palmerston North on Saturday night.

First five-eighth Daniel Halangahu is bracketed in the Harbour team as he battles with a knee injury.

If he does not pass a fitness test today, Matt McGahan will go to first five-eighth and Josh Rowland will come into the starting side at fullback.
