Otago has called in some reinforcements for this week's game against Auckland as key flanker James Lentjes appears to be no closer to a return to the field.

Otago takes on Auckland this Sunday at Eden Park and should have the services of hooker and captain Liam Coltman.

Coltman was forced off the field in last Friday night's loss to Tasman with damaged ribs, but is expected to be right for the match against Auckland.

To cover for his injury, Harbour hooker Seko Pole has been called into the squad.

Pole had a solid season for Harbour and is a promising player who gets around the field.

Back-up hooker Sam Anderson-Heather would be expected to get the start if Coltman is not available.

Flanker Adam Knight, who made a good fist of playing in a new role on the open side on Friday night, is going through concussion protocols, after suffering a blow to the head in the second half of the match against Tasman.

It is unclear how long he will be out as that all depends how well he comes through the tests.

Promising University flanker Dillon Hunt has come into the squad this week.

Hunt just missed out on the New Zealand under-20 squad which won the world championships in Italy in June and had an impressive season for the title-winning University team.

Lentjes was expected to play a prominent role for Otago this year, backing up a season in which he played for the Highlanders, but he picked up a head knock against Canterbury in the first game and has not been sighted since.

It is unclear when he will be back but it is unlikely to be against Auckland.

Props Aki Seiuli and Craig Millar both left the field on Friday night but should be right for this week.

Locks Joe Latta and Jackson Hemopo are not going to be right until nearer the end of this month.

Latta suffered a fractured cheekbone in the warm-up game against Southland while Hemopo damaged ligaments in his knee against Canterbury.

Latta and Hemopo both played for the Highlanders this season and were hoping to make a big impact for Otago this season.

Blair Tweed, who played on the blindside flank for most of the club season with Zingari-Richmond, has been used at lock for the past three games.

Otago has a short turnaround after its game against Auckland, taking on Wellington in the capital just four days later.
