Pirates coach Margaret McKenzie is confident her side has closed the gap on Alhambra-Union.
The sides will meet into today's women's club final, with defending champion Alhambra-Union hoping to complete a double for the club.
In the premier men's final last weekend Alhambra-Union beat Dunedin 26-10 to claim the banner, and the club is in line for another title, with the women favourites to win today.
The sides have met twice this season with Alhambra-Union winning 41-10 in May and 17-10 last month.
"They've been a good team all year," McKenzie said.
"The first time we played them it was the Kelly Brazier-Carla Hohepa show. In the next game they weren't there but we closed them [Dunedin] down quite a bit. We're pretty happy with the way we've been going.
"The girls have trained well over the last four or five weeks and we've come together as a team."
Pirates thumped Southern 57-5 in the semifinal last weekend but is well aware of the threat the Alhambra backs pose.
Alhambra reached this year's final with an efficient 22-8 win over University but pummelled Southern 84-3 in last year's final after a stunning 60-point second half.
Brazier scored three tries and added seven conversions for a season tally of 219 points, and speedy winger Hohepa grabbed four tries.
McKenzie expects Alhambra will look to spin the ball wide at every opportunity and get its classy backs into the game early.
Pirates will probably play a more compact game and look to get some dominance up front.
It will also look to talented first five-eighth Ainslie Johnston for direction and teenager Victoria Nafatali for some penetration from centre.
Otago Rugby Football Union amateur rugby manager Justin Gardner said the game was scheduled for North Ground because Carisbrook had been in use for club rugby and, with recent heavy rain and many fixtures coming up, the union had decided it was prudent to give the venue a spell.
