Rugby: Otago blue sees logo go down below

The Bog has been dropped to the nether regions.

One of the Otago side's sponsors, The Bog, has found its logo has been shifted from the jersey sleeve to the shorts after a miscalculation.

New Zealand Rugby Union regulations have strict requirements on the amount of advertising allowed on jerseys during the Air New Zealand Cup, including only one mark, to a stipulated size, on the front of the jersey.

But the Otago Rugby Football Union, through a dispensation, is allowed to put the Speight's crest on the right breast of the jersey. along with another logo on the front of the jersey.

This means no logo on the sleeve, but unfortunately the Otago Rugby Football Union overlooked that requirement and stuck The Bog logo on the sleeve of the jersey.

ORFU marketing manager Chris Green said he did not think about the location of the logo until it was too late.

The logo was covered up in Friday night's match against Hawkes Bay, and would continue to be until the end of the season, he said.

New jerseys would not be produced.

The Bog co-owner Mike Bankier said it was not a big issue, as the tavern had originally thought it was getting its name on the shorts, anyway.
