New Otago signing Michael Witt is to play his club rugby for Taieri and he will meet his new team-mates tonight.
Witt (25), a former New Zealand Warrior, is making a brief promotional trip to Dunedin and will also play in a sponsors golf tournament tomorrow.
Witt signed a two-year contract with Otago last month after he became surplus to requirements at the rugby league club.
He is expected to play in the inside backs for Otago and has linked with Taieri, a side which contains his former team-mate Warriors centre Ryan Shortland.
He will attend Taieri's training at Peter Johnstone Park tonight.
Taieri, back in premier ranks after eight years, has won one of its first two matches of the season.
Greg Zampach is continuing to recover from a head knock sustained in Zingari-Richmond's win over Green Island on Saturday.
Zampach, a former Otago and Highlanders winger, was knocked out in a tackle against Green Island, and had to be assisted from the field.
He was later checked by a doctor, and then sent home.
Zingari-Richmond coach John Keenan said yesterday Zampach (33) had recovered from the injury and was feeling better.
Keenan would look at a video of the incident and if he had any concerns, he would get in touch with Green Island coach Colin Tuaine.
There would be no player citing.
