Highlanders marketing manager Doug McSweeney said the band would be a good way to warm up the crowd before the game and also get the fans into the ground early.
The band will start about 4.40pm and play a few of their hits before the main game kicks off at 5.30pm.
Last year the Black Seeds played after a game at Carisbrook, while in 2009 Shihad played after the match between the Highlanders and the Crusaders.
But McSweeney said the Feelers were better before the game, and were not a band which specifically targeted the student market.
He also urged people to buy tickets before the clash as they would avoid queues at the ground.
Extra eftpos stations had been brought in to speed up the processing of tickets but McSweeney said it would be better if people brought cash to pay for tickets.
He said 5000 tickets had been sold for the game already and he was hoping for a crowd between 15,000 and 20,000.
The weather forecast is for showers.
A Highlanders development side would play the Crusaders Knights at 3pm at Carisbrook on Saturday, before the Feelers play.
The Highlanders side will be a mixture of squad players and wider training group members.
It will be coached by Otago coach Phil Mooney.
The Crusaders Knights, he franchise's development side, have been playing in the Pacific Rugby Cup and have already recorded wins over Fiji and Samoa.
Their 55-7 win over Fiji was played at Carisbrook after no suitable venue could be found in Christchurch.
