Rugby: Crushing win for Otago B

Otago B had a resounding 74-10 win over Southland Country at Carisbrook on Saturday.

Ahead 29-3 at the break, the home side made no race of it in the second half and scored 11 tries in total.

Outside backs Jeremy Cave and Paula Kinkinilau helped themselves to three tries each.

Other tries were scored by winger George Folau, halfback Lewis Hancock, loose forward Adam Hill and locks Seko Kalou and Richard Thompson each picked up a five pointer.

Cam Rutherford converted eight of the tries.

With the win, Otago B finishes as top qualifier in its pool of the South Island representative competition and will play a semifinal in two weeks.

In Auckland, Otago Colts went down 33-20 to Auckland Colts, after being behind 13-10 at the break.

The Otago side played well below its best, and failed to muscle up against the Auckland team.

Centre Marshall Suckling scored a try as did flanker Sam Gavigan, while Peter Breen scored the rest of the points.

The Colts play Counties-Manukau Colts in Pukekohe tomorrow to finish their short northern tour.
