Rugby: Crusaders look to 'Brook for 'home' final

Carisbrook may not have seen its final Super rugby match, as the Crusaders are reportedly keen on using the ground as  a ''home'' venue if they host a finals match.

While the venue has not been officially booked, and the Christchurch-based team has yet to secure a finals position - defeats against the Blues and Hurricanes could destroy their chances of qualifying for the playoffs - the House of Pain would be used for the match, Stuff has reported.

The ground will be free over the playoffs period - June 24-25 to July 9 - after the Highlanders' qualifying hopes were effectively quashed by the loss to the Western Force  on Friday night.

Crusaders chief executive Hamish Riach said: ''Carisbrook is certainly one (ground) we have approached, but we have not got down to the point of quite being able to confirm anything at this stage.''

The Crusaders' home venue of AMI Stadium was damaged in the February earthquake.
