The Otago team is off to camp in the hinterland.

Coach Phil Mooney, along with assistant coach Dave Latta and newly installed manager Des Smith, is taking the Otago side for a four-day camp, based in Arrowtown, for both training and promotional work.

The team will leave on June 20, the morning after the test at Carisbrook, and stop at Ranfurly on the way for a promotion.

The team then moves on to its base in Arrowtown, staying at the camping ground - not always the warmest of places in late June.

Training will continue during the next few days, along with a trip to local primary schools and rugby clubs in Queenstown and Arrowtown.

On Wednesday, the side will travel back to Lawrence, stopping at Alexandra and Roxburgh on the way for promotions.

That night, players will be billeted at farms around the district and will also go night shooting. They will work on the farms on Thursday morning before returning to Dunedin for club training that night.

About 25 players will go on the trip.
