Rugby: Arrowtown notch big win over Upper Clutha

Arrowtown put together another dominant performance to beat Upper Clutha 41-17 at Jack Reid Park.

The home side scored five tries in a match where the final score was not a true indication of how the game played out.

Arrowtown was on the board early with two quick tries, the first to wing Tyne Schofield and the other to fullback Kane Dodds, who scored the try of the match.

Arrowtown broke out from its own 22m line and the ball went through seven sets of hands before Dodds finished it off in the corner.

Both tries went unconverted and Upper Clutha evened the match with a converted try to centre Alan Dunn and then a penalty goal to pivot Byron Clarke.

The second half produced Dodds's second try early and then replacement wing Blair Impey crossed.

Upper Clutha prop Nick Thompson barged over to keep his side within striking distance before Arrowtown broke away with two more tries, the last an intercept from Dodds to complete a hat-trick in a man-ofthe-match performance.
