Luke Reihana contributed 20 points and played a fine all-round game as Alhambra-Union comfortably beat Green Island at the North Ground.
It was not a vintage performance by Alhambra-Union but it scored four tries to two to achieve a bonus-point win.
There were too many handling errors and unforced mistakes for this to be classified a convincing display.
Reihana played a classy all-round game at second five-eighth, Peter Breen ran strongly from fullback and Ben Qauqau was a threat with his hard running from the left wing.
No 8 Matthew Kissick gained good line-out ball and impressed with his covering.
Openside flanker Ryan Bowater remained close to the ball carrier throughout, lock Matt Gale won his share of line-out ball and hooker Ben Pereira and prop Liam Coltman had lively games.
Green Island tried hard but did not have the firepower to overcome Alhambra-Union even though it used the pick and go to good effect.
Highlanders No 8 Nasi Manu capped a strong game with a try, locks Brett Campbell and Brendon Hollows gained good line-out ball and openside flanker Jason Bint was lively before he left the field injured.
The pick of the backs were three-quarters Chris O'Neil and Poasi Ioane, who both ran strongly with their limited supply of ball.
Alhambra-Union 35 (Luke Reihana, Ben Qauqau, Ben Pereira, Peter Breen tries; Reihana 3 conversions, 3 penalty goals), Green Island 15 (Chris ONeil, Nasi Manu tries; Shane McNoe conversion, penalty goal).
Halftime: Alhambra-Union 18-10.
Referee: Liam Scanlon.
