Otago will provide the tighthead power for the Manu Samoa team heading away on its tour of the northern hemisphere.

Otago props Donald Brighouse and Hisa Sasagi have both been picked in the Samoan squad in its three-match tour next month.

It is apt reward for the two tighthead props who enjoyed good years for Otago in the Mitre 10 Cup.

Sasagi (30) has previously played for Samoa although his tour last year was affected by injury and he played just one game.

Brighouse is a former age-group national representative and has been slowly warming to his task at first-class level.

The Otago scrum was one of the best in the Mitre 10 Cup this season and conceding a penalty in the semifinal last week against Bay of Plenty was the first time all season it had not had a successful scrum.

Brighouse (24) started the majority of the games for Otago with Sasagi coming on early in the second half.

Sasagi had a slow start to the season after dislocating his shoulder but was coming into good fitness as the season ended.

Former Otago loose forward TJ Ioane, who is now playing for Sale in England, was also named in the squad.

Samoa's first game will be against Scotland on November 11, followed by Romania on November 18 and finishing the tour with England on November 25.
