The North Otago Rugby Union is on the hunt for a new chief executive.

Incumbent chief executive Colin Jackson confirmed yesterday he is retiring from the job after two decades as the head of the union.

"I think 20 years is enough. I’m now tired and old," Jackson said.

"It is time for someone else to come in and have fresh ideas and take North Otago forward."

North Otago has a large junior, men’s and women’s rugby programme running throughout the Waitaki district.

Citizens Shield club rugby has boomed in recent years and produced a tight competition, laying the platform for representative players.

North Otago is also home to the Old Golds Heartland side, who get their season under way at home against Horowhenua Kapiti on August 17.

Jackson confirmed he will finish up with North Otago at the end of November.

The union began advertising the position yesterday.
